Lower Body Plastic Surgery Procedures
During an abdominal lipectomy, we focus on the surgical removal of skin and fat from the lower abdomen. Many patients have excess or stretched skin in the this area as a result of pregnancy or weight loss. It takes about 2 hours to perform this surgery and recovery is approximately 6 weeks.
In a belt lipectomy, we remove excess fat and skin from your abdomen, back, buttocks, thighs and waist. This is an extensive surgery requiring 5-7 hours for the operation. You are put under general anesthesia for the surgery and will be looking at a recovery time of approximately 6 weeks.
A suction lipectomy is a less-invasive procedure than traditional lipectomy as we burst fat cells and then suction out excess fat in the body through a hollow tube. We use multiple techniques to burst the fat cells to include physically bursting the cells, using ultrasound, water, or laser-assisted liposuction. A suction lipectomy takes about 1-2 hours and healing time of approximately 2 weeks. This is a common procedure for both men and women.
